For a long time I have been thinking signing up for a pottery class. But there has never been one near where I live. But when I then had to start driving (because of Albi's school) I decided this was a splending opportunity to use the driving for something fun as well although it meant driving on roads I have never driven before with tears in my eyes and breathing difficulties. So I signed up for a pottery class in the next towm. And that is probably the best thing I have done!

I was the only real beginner there, and you noticed that right away as I was the only one showing up without the apron. Sorted for nesxt class though! My local food shop only sold black aprons, so I personalised it a bit with a bit of embroidery: POTTERY in all the colours of the rainbow. This also prevents me from accidently cooking in it... hm...

I have now attened one term and I have my first tadaaa to show off. A Greek vase. With a heart. I like little surprises you don't see at the first glance. It is very Scandinavian looking my teacher said. Ah well - you are what you are, I say

Although it is a bit wonky and I feel a bit sorry for it, I am quite pleased with how it turned out. So I keep it in the kitchen window.

I have made some more things but they are waiting to be fired and glaced. Something for the autum term! I am going back.

Thank you for lovely comments and welcome to my new follower. It is lovely to have you here!

Blog Hop

Today I am partaking in the Blog Hop. Lovely Maria from Dinki Dots asked me if I wanted to join in. Please check out her fun post here. I am lucky to know Maria in real life. She is a true treassure and great friend. And fantastic for a craft chat!

Anyhow without further delays ... over to my Blog Hop answers

 What am I working on?
I am currently working on something stripy. A motto I have - and yes I will embroider it one day - is: It can never get too stripy! I love stripes. My oldest friend is having baby number five in November and that is a perfect reason so get some stripes going. I love the process of seeing row after row of colour just grow. Very soothing and satisfying.

I am really pleased with the colours in this blanket. Very vintage. As we don't know what she is having yet, I went for something that works for both boys and girls. And then I found I had some more of my favourite saffron yellow so I might add a border of some sort. It remains to be seen.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?
This is a difficult question as I am not sure it does differ so much. There are lots and lots of talented crafters out there and many with the same ideas as I have. Thinking about it I am not sure it is so important for me to differ but instead enjoy what I make - my own idea or if it is something inspired by someone elses work.

Like many of us crocheter I have a soft spot for the granny square... I think I am easily in the thousand when it comes to how many I have made. So nothing that differs but gives great pleassure!

Why do I create what I do?
Because I cannot stop, too many ideas in my head - sometimes overwhelming! I started crocheting about 8 years ago. I wanted a crocheted flower brooch and I could not find one anywhere so I asked my mum to show me some crochet basic and I have not been able to stop since. Not that I have been trying to stop... I enjoy crafting and particularly crochet too much and I also find it a great way to relax.

Over the years there have been a few brooches. Sometimes a small quick project is what is needed and brooches fits that description perfectly. But mostly I see myself as a blanket maker. Nothing like a cozy blanket and knowing you have made it and then seeing it in use. Specially when your children sleeps tucked in under it.

How does my creating process work?
For me it generally starts with a vague idea and then it grows as I work on it. I would think this is also probably the reason why I change things in patterns all the time - new ideas pop up and I just want to try them out there and then. Cannot help myself!

Now over to my Blog Hop nominees. Unfortunately I have not been able to reach these ladies in person, but they both have beautiful blogs so I wanted to nominate them as my next blogs to hop on to:

http://zanashomemade.blogspot.co.uk/ - this is a lady after my own heart. Crocheting gardenlover with cats!

http://joannacreation.blogspot.co.uk/ - absolutely beautiful pictures and great crafting. Please take an extra look at her lovely grey crocheted rug! I want one!

Happy Blog Hop-ing!

A bit late but just in time for the daisies to bloom - my midsummer bag is finished!

With homemade crochet ribbon and lined with Tilda fabric. Someone has quite irresponsibly and within walking distance from my house opened a shop that sells Tilda fabric. So my new golden rule - use what you've got was quickly abandoned for this starry fabric beauty. How could I resist?

I have also added two little jingle bells (yes from Lindt Rabbits...), they give a nice little twinkling sound when I take my bag for a walk.

This has been one of those projects I did not want to end. I enjoyed every bit of it. Even, and dare I say it, sorting the ends. I started crocheting the daisies earlier this spring with no real plan really. I just had a stash of saffron yellow cotton yarn and one stash of saffron yellow acrylic. Both just cried out to become daisy centers. The cotton flowers are now my new midsummerbag. And the acrylics... I'll leave that as a cliffhanger...

Finally welcome to my new follower. Great to have you here!

Virka till trädgården

En liten duk i trädgården. Virkad i trädgårdssnöre.

A little doily for the garden. Crocheted in garden twine. Why did I not think of that earlier?? I wanted a crochet something for the garden for a long time, but never did I think to make it out of garden twine until I saw this at Betsy Makes. Was searching for a good doily pattern and found Spider Web Doily - it does not get any better! Although it turned out I did not have enough twine, so my doily is more inspired of the Spider Web. Very pleased in any case!

And we have beautiful butterflies fluttering amongst the hydrangeas.

And in the border a self seedling. Makes me warm and fuzzy. This is the symbol of the area I come from in Sweden.

Thank you all for leaving comments! They are always a great joy reading!
