Jeans or dress? Depends on, I generally think it is more comfortable with a dress, but for gardening jeans are very practical.

 

What is your favourite word? One of my favourite English words is exquisite. It just sounds so fantastic and so English in my ears.

 

Your favourite dessert? Pannacotta in all shapes and forms!

 

What is your favorite book? At the moment I am reading Chris Hadfield: An Astronaut's Guide to life on Earth - very interresting and exciting!. I have not had time to read so much lately but two books that I can recommend are The Girl with Glass Feet, by Ali Shaw and The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey they are both beautiful like fairytales for grown ups.

 

Your favorite movie? Dirty Dancing... still...

 

You'd rather live in a nice little cottage or a loft on the 35th floor? The cottage anytine! I want the garden!

 

Pasta or vegetables? Time and place for everything..

 

What is your wildest dream? Not so wild but I am dreaming of taking a pottery class - I am so adventurous haha!

 

Where would you live? I like where I live but it would have been nice having my family closer.

En rosa korg, en lila dödskalle och en liten blomma

 

 

Jag har tagit en liten paus från filtvirkandet, men jag måste säga att det är tur att jag manivirkat så många tidigare för nu har vi varit utan värme i en vecka. Då är det bra att ha ett hemvirkat filtberg att sitta under.

Vad har suttit på virknålen de senaste dagarna? Jo först en korg för alla småprylar. Jag ska ha den i pysselrummet för det verkar som om saker multiplicerar sig av sig själva därinne. En av mina favoriter är saker man kan stoppa andra saker i. Så en korg. Hoppas att det också innebär att det blir fantastisk ordning och reda i mitt pyssel rum!

I have a break from the blanket making, but I have to say that it is lucky I have made so many earlier as we have had no heating for a week so it has been nice to have a blanket mountain to sit under.

What have been on my hook lately then? Well firstly a basket for all those small bits and bobs that seem to have a life of their own and multiplies behind your back. This is for my craftroom where it is particularly bad at the moment. I really like things you can put other things in so a basket! Hopefully this means I will get in top of some of the clutter and mess!

Har också virkat klart Albis dödskallesjal, hon blev mycket nöjd. Denna gången använde jag mig av den rekommenderade kanten och det blev väldigt bra. Ska spara mönstret i mina gömmor för jag tror att det blir en bra filtkant också. Kommer nämligen troligen inte att kunna hålla mig från filtvirkandet någon längre stund.

I have also made a skull shawl for Albi. She is delighted. This time I used the recomended border and I like it. I will keep it safe, I think it will look nice as a border for a blanket. I know I can only stay away from the blankets so long...

En rolig överraskning för mig: i somras köpte jag en kaktus på loppis (visst är det underbart vad man kan hitta!) och nu blommar den! Har aldrig haft en blommande kaktus förut! Nu ser den stor ut, men kaktusen är stor som en guldtia och blomman som ett risgryn - men det spelar ingen roll! Den blommar och den är otroligt söt.

And a nice surprice for me. I bought a cactus at a car boot sale last summer (it is wonderful what you can find!) and it is currently in full bloom. I have never had a cactiblossom before! It looks big at the picture but the cactus is the size of a pound coin and the flower is blig as a grain of rice. Not that it matters! It is in bloom and it is very pretty.

Ny sjal

I somras köpte jag några härvor mjukt bomullsgarn på loppis, lyckligtvis har jag fått en garnvinda av min mamma, så efter lite vevande och snurrande (och inte alls så jobbigt som jag fått för mig) hade jag mina nystan.

 

I bought a couple of skeins of soft cotton yarn at a flee market last summer. Luckily my mum gave me a yarn winding tool ( I am sure it has a good approriate English name, but I don't know it..), after a bit of winding (not as boring or difficult as I thought) I had my balls of yarn.

 



 

Och virkade något ljuvt och romantiskt..

 

And crocheted something sweet and romantic..

Nä! Dödskallesjalen! Vad jag verkligen tycker om med den är att den ser ut som något ur ett bröllopsmagasin vid första anblicken, men när man tittar närmare får man en rolig överraskning.

 

No! The skull shawl! What I really like about it is that it first looks like something out of Bridal Weekly but when you take a closer look you get a fun surprise.

 



 

Definitivt det roligaste jag har virkat på länge och det sitter redan en ny dödskallesjal på nålen. Till Albi som knappast kan vänta tills den är klar. 

 

Jag har använt mig av detta mönstret . Jag beundrar verkligen personer som sitter ner och gör sådana bra och lättvirkade mönster och sedan delar med sig! Tack!

 

 

It is definitely the most fun crochet for a long time and I have already another one on the hook. For Albi, she cannot wait until hers is ready.

Kaninungar och trädgårdslycka

 

Köpte nytt garn. Mjukt som kaninungar, så jag kunde inte lämna det i affären.

 

Bought some new yarn, soft as bunny rabbits so I could not leave it in the shop.

 

Ett lätt och snabbvirkat mönster senare och jag har mysigaste sjalen. Och jag vet varför jag egentligen är en garnsnobb...

 

One easy and fast worked pattern later and I have the cuddliest shawl. And I know why I deep down am a yarn snob...

 

Trädgårdslyckan! Låter mig ana lite vår. Första snödroppen och en liten liten grön bladknopp.

 

Garden joy! A hint of spring. First of the snowdrops and a teeny tiny little green leaf bud.

Under granen, både här och där

Lite sent kanske att lägga in en julklappspost när det nästan är mitten av januari, men först firar man jul och då går tiden snabbt, sedan blir man sjuk, då går tiden inte lika snabbt, men man har inte ork för datorn. Nu kan jag dock äntligen ana ljuset i slutet av tunneln.

A bit late perhaps to do a Christmas present post, but first you celebrate and time flies and then you are ill and time goes slowly, but you have no energy for anything. But at last I can see a hint of light at the end of the tunnel.

 Som sagt så upptäckte jag ju att de där mandalainspirerade dukarna är roliga att göra. Så jag virkade en till en kompis. Hon har en väldigt fin bonad i sitt hem, så färgerna är hämtade därifrån.

I did discover how much fun it is to make the mandala inspired doilies, so I decided to make one for my friend. She has a beautiful tapestry in her home and I used the colours from it to make the mandala.

Lavendelfyllda blommor fungerar bra både i linneskåpet och i bilen. Tanken var från början att den skulle vara till nervösa bilförare (jag) och att lavendeldoften skulle sprida lite lugn och harmoni i bilen. 

Lavender filled flowers works well both in your linen cabinet and your car. The idea was that it is for nervous drivers (me) and that the lavender will give you some calm and harmony in the car.

Vad fanns det för pyssligt under min gran då? Jo fantastiskt tyg från Maria - hon vet att jag tycker om mitt kaffe och till tyget det sötaste ugglebandet. Nu måste jag tänka ut något fint jag kan göra. Fick faktiskt en George (Nespresso) också, så något till den kanske?

Jag fick även två fantastiska virkböcker - massor av inspiration. Arne och Carlos boken är helt fantastisk!

What did I find under my tree then? Well beautiful fabric from Maria - she knows I like my coffee! With the fabric I also got the sweetest little owl ribbon - joy! I have to come up with something lovely to make. I did get a George (Nespresso) as well, so perhaps something for that?

I also got two great crochet books - lots of inspiration. The Arne and Carlos book is fantastic!

Nu är det dock fårdigjulat för denna gången! Ljuset är på väg tillbaka och med det våren

End of Christmans for this season! The light is on its way back and with the light -spring.

Bokmärken och en liten kanin

 

Virkade bokmärken är lagom stora att skicka med julkorten till bokläsare. (Och ja, man måste färgkoordinera sina bokmärken med sina böcker, hur skulle det annars se ut?!)

 

Crochet bookmarks are perfect in size to send with the Christmas cards to book readers. (And yes, you have to colour coordinate your bookmarks with your books, imagine what it would look like otherwise!)

 

Albis kanin är också färdig. Färgerna har hon mycket noga valt själv. Jag tycker att det blev bra.

 

Albi's rabbit is finished. She picked the colours herself and I think she did a good job.

Snöfall

Jag har virkat ett snöfall. Min syster sa en gång att det är något maniskt över mitt virkande och i detta fallet kan hon nog ha rätt. Jag har haft huvudet fullt av snöflingor de senaste dagarna. Perfekta att veva ihop på kvällen i soffan. Jag har använt mönster från denna bloggen -  här finns fantastiska snöflingor med beskrivningar, men också här och här. Sedan har jag kombinerat och hittat på egna. Ingen snöflinga är den andra lik, eller hur?

 

Nu har vi snöflingor överallt!

 

 

I have crocheted a snowfall. My sister once said there is something of a frenzie over my crocheting and in this case she might be right. I have had my head full of snowflakes lately. They are the perfect sitting in the sofa craft. I have used patterns from this blog - amazing snowflakes and descriptions, but I have also used this and this. From the original patterns I have made new combinations but I have also made up my own. No two snowflakes are the same right?

 

Anyhow - there are now snowflakes everywhere!

Teter Rabbit

 

Av lite fina restgarner...

 

With some lovely left overs...

 

...blir det en kanin. Till Pop. Som älskar Peter Rabbit eller Teter Rabbit så mycket att alla kaniner nuförtiden heter Teter Rabbit, så även denna.

 

Mönster ungefär det här. Men jag gjorde längre öron. Tycker om långa kaninöron. Och ja det är en kanin på gång till Albi också.

 

... you can make a rabbit. For Pop. He loves Peter Rabbit or Teter Rabbit so much all rabbits are currently called Teter Rabbit, this one as well.

 

Pattern is more or less this, but I made longer ears. I like long rabbit ears. And yes I am making one for Albi as well.



Lily

Vi har bakat. Lussekatter. Och för första gången gick allt som planerat. Vi blev så nöjda med degen att Albi ville döpa den - så träffa Lily!

 

We have made Lussekatter (traditional Swedish saffron buns for the Lucia festivities 13th December). For the first time ever everything fell into place (I knew it would pay of watching all those episodes of the Bake off). We were so pleased with the dough Albi wanted to name it - so meet Lily!

Till januaribebisen

 

 

 

En av mina bästa vänner ska ha en bebis i januari. Eftersom hon betyder väldigt mycket för mig ville jag ge henne något personligt. En liten filt att hålla Lillan varm och en bläckfisk för Lillan att leka med.

 

Både filt och bläckfisk är virkad i bomullsgarn, filten på frihand och bläckfisken ungefär efter detta mönstret. Bläckfisken är egentligen till förtidigt födda barn och tanken är att de ska tycka om att hålla i armarna eftersom de ska påminna om navelsträngen. Men jag tänker att alla små nya nog tycker att det känns tryggt med en bläckfiskvän.

 

 

One of my best friends is having a baby in January. She is very special to me so I wanted to make something for her. A blanket to keep the baby warm and an octopus for baby to play with.

 

The blanket and the octopus are crocheted in cotton yarn. The blanket is a make up as you go and the octopus is roughly made using this pattern. The octopus is supposed to be for premature babies and the idea is that the arms should remind them of the umbilical cord and therefore give them a feeling of safety. But I think all little new ones will benefit from an octopus friend

 

 Eftersom armarna är så härligt dingliga och dangliga så virkade jag en till mig själv också. Bilmaskot.

 

Since the arms are so deliciously dingly and dangly, I made one for myself as well. Car mascot.
